Media influences in football

The media's influence on football in the United Kingdom has changed over the years as well. As over 50 years ago most football fans had to wait till the next day until when the papers come out until they found out the result of their teams game as games and radio channels did not broadcast the games. Over the years media has developed and television and radio and other sources of media have started to report and televise football matches which has seen the sport rapidly increase in a short space of time.
The increase in televising games has brought the fans more closely to their team and also over the years technology has increased to the point where even if your team is not on the television, you can still get up the game details through the internet. The biggest source of media in football is television as a few years ago a company called sky was introduced which broadcast live football games throughout the country, this had a massive impact on British football as lots of money was pumped into it .this would see football rise in finance as this would see teams in the top leagues benefit from this as wages raised, transfer fees increased a lot, this also seen greater competition throughout the leagues as the higher up in the league you was the more money you would make ,money in football also had a massive impact as this would see the more high profile players come over to England and this would see people watch these types of players and see these as role models.partipcation raised when sky was introduced by almost 10% as more people were watching the games and seeing these high profile players as role models.
Media has also gave a negative impact on football as social network sites where introduced and there has been several issues that have been brought up that has caused an out roar, this put the sport in the media for the wrong reasons and this will have a negative effect on our sport as more people will be talking about his rather than the positive news , role models such as Wayne Rooney and other England stars have caused things over social networks sites that has seen them fined for their actions .

Positive influences on media in football:
·         Finance –more money has been put into sport and this has been good for the game
·         Participation – greater participation because the sport is in the media a lot

Negative effects of media in football:
·         Social network sites- issues may occur and be in the news which will have an impact on our sport
·         Attendances at games- gate attendances may drop as more games are going live so people are staying at home and watching it on home rather than going the game
